1.India and Thailand Monday celebrated the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and in tune with the same a series of events and activities have been planned throughout this year to reflect the multi-faceted cooperation between both sides.To celebrate the 75th year of relations between both sides, the Royal Thai Embassy has organized a series of celebratory vents all throughout the year.

2.China on Wednesday suspended exports of natural sand to Taiwan and halted imports of fruit and fish products from the self-governed island as US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi visited Taiwan in a trip condemned by Beijing. In a warning salvo ahead of Pelosi’s visit, Chinese customs had suspended imports from 35 Taiwanese exporters of biscuits and pastries since Monday. 

3.From cyberattacks to military drills, Taiwan is witnessing heightened activity in and around the self-ruled island as tensions with China rise following the visit by US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi. China announced a series of sanctions on Taiwan and vowed a "resolute, forceful and effective" action in response to Pelosi's trip. It has kicked off its largest-ever military exercises encircling Taiwan, some of the world's busiest waterways.-hindustantimes.com

4.Chief Justice NV Ramana on Thursday recommended the name of Justice UU Lalit as his successor to the government. Justice Ramana handed over a copy of the recommendation to Justice Lalit today morning. On Wednesday, Union law minister Kiren Rijiju wrote to the CJI requesting him to recommend the name of his successor as Chief Justice Ramana will retire on August 26.-hindustantimes.com

5.The Supreme Court on Wednesday heard the preliminary arguments in the cases relating to dispute between Uddhav Thackeray and Eknath Shinde arising out of the rift within the Shiv Sena political party. After hearing the senior lawyers appearing for both sides for over an hour, the bench adjourned the the hearing till tomorrow morning, asking Senior Advocate Harish Salve (who appeared for Eknath Shinde group) to re-draft the written submissions for for more clarity.-livelaw.in

6.Tejaswin Shankar opened the Indian athletics team’s medal account with a bronze in the men’s high jump event in the Commonwealth Games, late on Wednesday. National record holder Shankar cleared 2.22m to finish third in the event. Lovepreet Singh won a bronze in men’s 109 kg to continue India’s medal rush in weightlifting at the Commonwealth Games on Wednesday.-theindianexpress.com

7.The government will construct 26 green express highways by 2024 and bring down travel time between key cities across the country, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari told Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.  By 2024, I guarantee that roads in India will be like those in the United States.” He said the Transport Ministry is also looking at several new technologies to replace toll plazas in order to reduce traffic snarls at these points.-theindianexpress.com

8.Entry to all monuments and sites protected by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) will be free for the next 10 days from Saturday. The government announced this on Wednesday as part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ and 75th Independence Day celebrations. 9.IHG Hotels and Resorts, one of the world’s leading hotel companies has signed a management agreement with Dahej Hotels and Hospitality Pvt. Ltd a subsidiary of Karmvir Group, for a new hotel – Holiday Inn Express Dahej Bharuch Road in Gujarat. The new-built hotel featuring 120 keys is expected to be operational by the first quarter of 2025. The hotel will not only solidify IHG’s presence in the state of Gujarat, but also strengthen the company’s growth in secondary markets, in line with growing demand for quality branded accommodation in the country.    

10.Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) announced two upcoming hotels in close proximity to the famed Statue of Unity in Kevadia, Gujarat. The greenfield project, in agreement with Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Ltd.
