1.UN Security Council: ‘India not having a permanent seat is...’, says Elon Musk.: Billionaire Elon Musk on Monday expressed his astonishment at India's exclusion from the permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Tesla CEO wrote, “India not having a permanent seat on the Security Council, despite being the most populous country on Earth, is absurd." “At some point, there needs to be a revision of the UN bodies. Problem is that those with excess power don’t want to give it up," Musk said.

 2.Canada caps foreign student permits by 35%.: Canada has announced it will implement an intake cap on the number of applications accepted for study permits for international students which is expected to result in 35% reduction in those numbers this year as compared to 2023. This was announced by Canada’s Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Marc Miller on Monday , who said the “temporary” cap will be placed for two years and the cap for 2025 re-assessed at the end of this year.

3.India Overtakes Hong Kong As World's Fourth-Largest Stock Market.:India's stock market has overtaken Hong Kong's for the first time in another feat for the South Asian nation whose growth prospects and policy reforms have made it an investor darling.The combined value of shares listed on Indian exchanges reached $4.33 trillion as of Monday's close, versus $4.29 trillion for Hong Kong, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. That makes India the fourth-biggest equity market globally. Its stock market capitalization crossed $4 trillion for the first time on December 5, with about half of that coming in the past four years.

5.Netaji birth anniversary: PM Modi to attend ‘Parakram Diwas’ at Red Fort today.: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to participate in Parakram Diwas celebrations at Red Fort to mark the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. He will also launch Bharat Parv, a nine-day event to showcase the country's rich diversity and exhibit different cultures. "In line with the vision of the prime minister to take steps to duly honour the contribution of luminaries who played a significant role in the freedom struggle, the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was started being celebrated as Parakram Diwas in 2021," the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said in a statement.

10.Hospitality group Marriott International to add 13-14 properties in 12 months time.: According to IANS, hospitality major Marriott International will be adding about 13-14 hotels in India under different brands in 12 months time, said a senior official.“Currently, the Marriott is managing about 134 properties under different brands. Another 13-14 more hotels will be added in 12 months time,” Gaurav Singh, Market Vice President, South & East India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, said.The group has about 60 agreements for hotels to open in the future.
