Marathi Bhasha Diwas 2024: From history, significance to celebrations; all you need to know.-Marathi Bhasha Diwas is celebrated on February 27 every year on the occasion of Vishnū Vāman Shirwādkar's birthday who was born on February 27 in the year 1912 and passed away on March 10, 1999. The Maharashtra State Cultural Policy 2010 marks February 27 as 'Marathi Bhasha Gaurav Diwas' in honour of the valuable contributions to the literary and cultural fields made by poet Kusumagraj.

Sweden clears final hurdle to join NATO as Hungary approves accession.- Hungary’s parliament approved Sweden’s NATO accession on Monday, clearing the last hurdle before the historic step by the Nordic country whose neutrality lasted through two world wars and the simmering conflict of the Cold War.Hungary’s vote ended months of delays to complete Sweden’s security policy shift and followed a visit by Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson on Friday, during which the two countries signed an arms deal.

Pakistani ex-Premier Nawaz Sharif's daughter takes over top provincial post. Rivals boycott her.-The eldest daughter and close aide of Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday became the country’s first-ever female chief minister in eastern Punjab province. Her rivals accused authorities of nepotism and boycotted the session of the provincial assembly. Mariam Nawaz, 50, became chief minister in a 220-0 vote in her favor, beating out her rival Rana Aftab, nominated by the Sunni Ittehad Council and an ally of imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

At Jamnagar, a billionaire’s passion creates the world’s largest rescue centre for animals.-On Monday, Reliance Industries and Reliance Foundation announced the launch of their Vantara (Star of the Forest) programme, an umbrella initiative that focuses on rescue, treatment, care and rehabilitation of injured, abused and threatened animals, both from India and abroad. Conceived by Anant Ambani, director on the boards of RIL and Reliance Foundation, Vantara is spread over 3,000 acres that mimics a jungle for rescued wildlife, a large part of which is home to the Centre for Elephants. The 25,000 square feet elephant hospital has scientifically designed day and night enclosures, hydrotherapy pools, and a large jacuzzi for treating arthritic elephants.

Adani Group unveils country’s first ammunition-missile manufacturing complex in U.P. -In a first in the private sector, two facilities for the manufacture of ammunition and missiles were opened by Adani Defence and Aerospace in Kanpur on February 26.The twin-facility complex, spread over 500 acres, was inaugurated by Army Chief Gen. Manoj Pande and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Tourism, hospitality sector expected to create 50 mn jobs in 5-7 yrs: Hotels' Association of India (HAI) on Monday said the hospitality and tourism sector expects to create 50 million direct and indirect jobs in the next 5-7 years but government support is required for getting the full industry and infrastructure status in states to tap the employment potential. The infrastructure status for the hospitality sector can push up investments not only to create accommodation, but also in the process boost income and employment generation, HAI President Puneet Chhatwal said while speaking here at the 6th HAI Hoteliers' Conclave.

Quad countries call for end in violence in Ukraine, Gaza, and Myanmar .-The Quadrilateral partnership consisting of Australia, India, Japan, and the United States intends to expand the Indo-Pacific Partnership for Maritime Domain Awareness (IPMDA) into the Indian Ocean Region, the Foreign Ministers of the four member countries announced on Monday in Tokyo.
