1.Canadian immigration minister says temporary worker program needs reform.- Canada's temporary foreign worker program is not fatally flawed but is "in need of reform," the country's immigration minister told Reuters on Tuesday, following a damning U.N. report that dubbed the program a breeding ground for modern slavery.The program brings non-Canadians to the country to work on a temporary basis.

2.Malaysian PM, Japanese Ministers set to visit New Delhi next week.-Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim will visit New Delhi next week, in a visit that is expected to strengthen India-Malaysia ties in strategic, trade and defence cooperation, and discuss major developments in Bangladesh, Gaza and Iran as well.With the Parliament session over, the visit is one of a number upcoming diplomatic outreaches. New Delhi is set to host the India-Japan 2+2 with Foreign and Defence Ministers, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will then travel to Poland and Ukraine.

3.India can work with whoever wins in the U.S.: External Affairs Minister.-India will be able to work with the new U.S. President, regardless of who it might be, after the elections later this year, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said on Tuesday (August 13). He was speaking at an event organised by Indiaspora, a global network of the Indian diaspora. “Generally, we don’t comment on other people’s elections because we also hope others don’t comment on us. ...We have every confidence that we will be able to work with the President of the United States, whoever he or she will be,” he said.

4.Resident doctors' body ends strike after assurance from health minister Nadda on safety demands.-The Federation of Resident Doctors' Associations (FORDA) called off its nationwide strike on Tuesday after receiving assurances from Union health minister JP Nadda. FORDA president Aviral Mathur told ANI that after meeting with the minister, they were assured that their demands for a safer working environment would be addressed promptly.

5.Govt launches real-time flood alert app for public safety .-Real-time flood forecasts from 592 monitoring stations across the country are now available through an app, a step aimed at public safety amid deadly flooding in several states due to a surplus monsoon. Jal Shakti minister CR Paatil on Tuesday launched FloodWatch India 2.0 at his office to enable an extensive overview of flood conditions in the country. Storage levels of 150 major reservoirs, critical for drinking, irrigation, and power generation, will also be available to the general public, the minister said.

6.Mumbai: Unity Job Fair To Offer 20,000 Vacancies For Youth From All Communities; Organised By AMP And Multi-Faith Groups.-The Association of Muslim Professionals (AMP) will organise a multi-faith job fair to celebrate the Independence Day. The one-day job fair has been planned in association with religious organisations from across faiths and expects around 100 corporates to hire on 20,000 vacancies.As part of the Independence Day celebrations intending to unite all religious communities and create a sense of brotherhood along with providing livelihood, AMP will be organising its annual free mega job fair on August 17.
