1.Singapore Airlines gets FDI nod for Vistara-Air India merger from government.Singapore Airlines on Friday (August 30, 2024) said it has received approval from the Indian government for the foreign direct investment (FDI) as part of the proposed merger of Vistara with Air India, a deal that will create one of the world's largest airline groups.With the clearance in place, the merger that will see Singapore Airlines acquiring a 25.1% stake in Air India, is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

5.More rain likely in Gujarat, IMD predicts cyclonic storm Asna.-Monsoon has been unusually active over northwest India in the month of August and this pattern of rainfall is expected to continue in the first week of September, meteorologists said on Thursday predicting extremely heavy rainfall in parts of rain-battered Gujarat at least till Friday.

6.Cyclone to form in Arabian Sea on Aug 30, first August storm since 1964.-The India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced on Thursday that a cyclone is expected to form over the northern Arabian Sea, near the Gujarat coast, by Friday. However, it is highly unlikely that the cyclone will impact the Indian coastline. This is because the current deep depression over the Saurashtra-Kutch region is predicted to move away into the northern Arabian Sea by August 30.
