Australia has come up with a new visa regime for Indians, the "First Work and Holiday visa". This visa lets people 18 to 30 years old (inclusive) have an extended holiday in Australia and work there to help fund their trip. Australian Assistant Minister for Immigration Matt Thistlethwaite speaking to WION's Sidhant Sibal explained the benefit of it for young Indians seeking to go to Australia. He said, "It's a great opportunity for young Indians to gain some new skills to experience Australian culture at the same time."

Canada expelled six Indian diplomats including the high commissioner on Monday, linking them to the murder of a Sikh separatist leader and alleging a broader effort to target Indian dissidents in Canada.Earlier in the day, India retaliated by ordering the expulsion of six high-ranking Canadian diplomats including the acting high commissioner and said it had withdrawn its envoy from Canada, contradicting Canada's statement of expulsion.

National Conference (NC) leader Omar Abdullah is set to take oath as the new chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir on October 16. Abdullah on Monday posted a letter on X sent by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inviting him to take oath on October 16. In a letter to Abdullah, Sinha said, "I have received a letter of 11th October, 2024 from Dr. Farooq Abdullah, President, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, wherein it has been informed that you have been unanimously elected as Leader of the Legislature Party."

Mahayuti-led state government has officially exempted light motor vehicles (LMVs), along with school and state transport buses, from paying toll at Mumbai’s five entry and exit points. These are located at Vashi, Airoli, Mulund (LBS Road), Anand Nagar (Eastern Express Highway) and Dahisar.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) will announce the schedule for Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly elections at 3.30 pm on Tuesday, October 15. The term of 288-member Maharashtra Assembly will end on November 26, while the Jharkhand Assembly, which has 81 seats, will finish its term on January 5, 2025
