The Union Budget 2025 promises to give the tourism sector a huge boost by way of central help to build infrastructure and connectivity in tourism hotspot states. The top 50 tourist destinations in the country will be developed by the government in partnership with the states in what is billed as a huge employment generator.
The Rs 2,541.06 crore allocation for the tourism ministry is a big jump from the Rs 850.36 crore in 2024-25. Among the focus areas are improving travel facilities, ensuring the safety of travellers, skilling and extension of credit.
