2.Oil prices surged: Benchmark Brent Crude and West Texas Intermediate (WTI) jumped over 3 per cent, reaching $81.40 and $78.40 per barrel respectively, both hitting five-month highs, after a US strike on three nuclear sites in Iran. In equity markets, S&P 500 futures dipped 0.5 per cent, while Nasdaq futures fell 0.6 per cent. MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan dropped 0.5 per cent, and Japan’s Nikkei slid 0.9 per cent.
