President Droupadi Murmu has granted assent to the Sustainable Harnessing and Advancement of Nuclear Energy bill.

 1.President Droupadi Murmu has granted assent to the Sustainable Harnessing and Advancement of Nuclear Energy for Transforming India (SHANTI) Bill, passed by Parliament during the Winter Session. A government notification said that the President granted assent to the SHANTI bill on Saturday (December 20, 2025). The Bill subsumes all laws dealing with the civil nuclear sector and also opens it up for participation by private players.

Schools now not allowed to use ‘International’ or ‘global’ in name-

2.In a first-of-its-kind move, the Maharashtra school education department has directed that schools in the state will no longer be allowed to use terms such as ‘International’ or ‘global’ in their names unless they really meet the eligibility criteria required for these titles–having campuses abroad or offering international curriculum. The decision aims to prevent confusion among parents and the general public due to such misleading school names.

3.The State-run Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal has become a major support systems for domestic micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with their membership on the platform crossing over 1.12 million, securing orders worth ₹7.44 lakh crore as of November 30, about 44.8% of total transactions of the portal, the commerce and industry ministry said.
