 1.Generational shift: On the Nepal election, the results-In a country that has seen political instability following every election since multiparty democracy was restored in 1990, Nepali voters have finally delivered a decisive mandate and in favour of a relatively new party. In the March 5 elections, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), founded barely four years ago, won a commanding majority in the 165 directly elected seats to the House of Representatives and roughly 50% of proportional votes, decimating parties that dominated Nepali politics for decades.

4.External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will make a statement in the Lok Sabha on Monday (March 9, 2026), after days of criticism from Opposition parties and several former Indian diplomats over the government’s “silence” on the conflict in West Asia. A notice for the statement, regarding “The Situation in West Asia”, was added to the list of business for the lower house of Parliament on Sunday evening (March 8). He is expected to make the statement shortly before the Lok Sabha takes up the Opposition’s resolution against Speaker Om Birla.
