Earlier today, in a LinkedIn post, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman wrote that the key proposals under consideration of the Council address registration, returns, refunds, disputes and improved flow of input tax credit, with the aim of reducing the time and cost of compliance.

4.The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration has suspended five and cancelled three food licences in Mumbai, besides registering FIRs and seizing prohibited food items worth Rs 2.22 crore, as part of a statewide crackdown ahead of the festive season. In a statement issued on Monday, the FDA said 15 FIRs were registered and 26 persons arrested during the action carried out between October 1 and 5. Six establishments were sealed and five vehicles, valued at Rs 67.60 lakh, were also seized, it added.

5.OpenStays, a five-month-old AI startup that helps homestays, hotels and resorts take bookings directly from guests, has won two tourism awards in September.On 27 September, World Tourism Day, OpenStays was named Best Tourism Startup at the Karnataka Tourism Awards 2026, given by the Department of Tourism, Government of Karnataka and the Karnataka Tourism Society. Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and Tourism Minister K.J. George presented the awards at a ceremony held at Palace Grounds.
