1.A group of influential lawmakers have introduced a bipartisan legislation in the US Senate to comprehensively overhaul the H-1B and L-1 visa programmes and usher in more transparency in the recruitment of foreign workers. The H-1B visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows US companies to employ foreign workers in speciality occupations that require theoretical or technical expertise. 2.India on Wednesday will host a meeting of the National Security Advisers (NSAs) of member-countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) which will be attended among others by Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev. 3.Perhaps for the first time in India, a court has used artificial intelligence for taking opinions on a criminal case. The high court used ChatGPT for validating its opinion regarding the bail application of an accused. This is the first instance ChatGPT has been used to decide on a bail application in India. 4.The deadline for linking PAN and Aadhaar cards, which had been slated for March 31, has been extended to June 30. Everyone is required to link it or suffer severe consequences, including increased TDS and TCS deduction. 5.The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has issued a circular in which it suggested "Prepaid Payment Instruments (PPI)" fees on merchant transactions on Unified Payments Interface (UPI). The governing body of the UPI payment system added that the PPI fees would be levied on transactions above ₹2,000 on UPI. It will result in an interchange at 1.1% of the transaction value.-livemint.co

6.Licenses of 18 pharma companies have been cancelled and they have been asked to stop manufacturing. Show cause notices have also been issued to 26 pharma companies, sources in the Union Health ministry have told NDTV. The orders came as part of an ongoing crackdown on pharma companies amid reports of spurious drugs from India being sold abroad.-ndtv.com

7.In Maharashtra, the toll prices for vehicles on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway will be increased by 18% from April 1, 2023, said State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) officials on Tuesday. The expressway is known as the first access-controlled road in the country. A senior official stated that though the toll increases by 6% annually, it is implemented cumulatively at 18% after every three years, as laid down in a government notification of August 9, 2004, according to the news agency PTI. –livemint.com

8.Maharashtra on Tuesday recorded 450 new cases of coronavirus that raised the tally of infections to 81,42,509 and three fatalities, an official from the state health department said.The daily count of infections has doubled since Monday when the state reported 205 cases. With the addition of the latest casualties, the toll has reached 1,48,438, while the count of recoveries rose to 79,91,728 after 316 patients recovered in the 24 hours, the official said.-ndtv.com
