4.Indian-American business leader Ajay Banga is poised to become the next President of the World Bank after the nomination period closed and no country proposed an alternate candidate for the prestigious post. 6.The reconstructed Himalaya foot overbridge (FOB) outside the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) was opened to the public at 8 am on Thursday without a formal inauguration. In the wake of a mid-day report on March 29 about how the bridge was ready but awaiting a final nod, the BMC decided to open it immediately to the public. Seven people died and more than 30 were injured after the FOB collapsed on March 14, 2019. This triggered in-depth structural audits of all bridges across the city.-mid-day.com

7.MUMBAI: Maharashtra reported nearly 700 fresh Covid-19 cases on Thursday, the highest single-day detection in over five months. The significant jump in infections has pushed the count of active cases in the state beyond the 3,000-mark, which doubled in just nine days.-hindustantimes.com
