8.An avalanche on Tuesday killed at least seven tourists in Sikkim’s Nathu La area, the army said, with officials saying rescue operations were called off later in the evening due to inclement weather. It was not clear if all tourists and their vehicles had been accounted for. The army said five to six vehicles carrying up to 30 tourists to the strategically located Nathu La pass between Sikkim and Tibet were stuck under the snow when the avalanche hit.
