 1.Sheikh Hasina to be sworn in as Bangladesh PM for fifth term.: Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be sworn in for a fifth term on Thursday after a landslide victory in an election boycotted by the opposition. Hasina's ruling Awami League party won nearly three-quarters of elected seats in parliament, with allied parties and friendly independent candidates making up nearly all the remainder. The vote was criticised by the United States and the United Nations following a crackdown late last year that saw thousands of opposition party members arrested.Cabinet Secretary Mahbub Hossain said Hasina and her ministry would take their oaths of office at 7:00 pm local time (1300 GMT).

2.PM Modi To Visit Maharashtra On January 12.:Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Maharashtra on January 12 for several inauguration programmes. PM Modi will arrive in Nashik around 12:15 pm on Friday and inaugurate the 27th National Youth Festival. He will then travel to Mumbai where he will inaugurate and travel on the longest sea bridge -Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewari - Nhava Sheva Atal Setu at 3:30 pm, according to a statement from thePrime Minister’s Office. Around 4:15 pm, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for several upcoming development projects in Navi Mumbai.-

3.IMF Approves $700 Million Loan For Pakistan: Amid the crippling economic woes in Pakistan, the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) completed its first review of the country's economic reform programme and allowed the immediate disbursement of USD 700 million, ARY News reported on Thursday.The report, quoting a release by the Pakistan Finance Ministry, stated, "The Board's approval allows for an immediate disbursement of SDR 528 million (around US$ 700 million), bringing the total disbursements under the SBA to US$ 1.9 billion."

 4.India's Longest Sea Bridge To Be Inaugurated By PM Modi Today.: The lights used in Atal Setu, India's longest sea bridge, do not disturb the aquatic environment and its construction involved several technologies that were used for the first time in India, a senior official said, adding that it being described as "engineering marvel" by experts.Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri--Nhava Sheva Atal Setu, built at cost of about ₹ 17,840 crore. 5.Indore, Surat named cleanest cities, Maharashtra cleanest state.: Indore and Surat were on Thursday named the joint winners of the cleanest city award, while Maharashtra bagged the top spot among states in the Union government’s annual cleanliness rankings for urban areas.This was the seventh year in a row that Indore was named the cleanest city in the Swachh Survekshan Awards. Surat, which has been in second place behind Indore for the past three years, won the top award for the first time.

6.Mohammed Shami and 25 others to receive Arjuna Award for 2023.:The star Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami is set to receive a prestigious Arjuna Award for his sensational performance in 2023. The experienced bowler was a leading wicket-taker in the recently concluded ICC ODI World Cup 2023 with 24 wickets in just seven innings and is the only cricketer among 26 athletes to receive an award in 2023.

7.26th Annual Urdu Kitab Mela:The annual Urdu book fair, popularly known as Urdu kitab mela, will hold its 26th event at the R2 ground, Bandra-Kurla Complex between January 6 and 14. Organised by the National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL), the event is being held with the collaboration of Anjuman-I-Islam, one of the largest educational institutions run by the Muslim community in Mumbai. The fair will be inaugurated by Sahitya Akademi secretary Dr K S Rao. It will feature 185 stalls with more than 1,50,000 books at 10 per cent discount.

10.Airbnb, U'khand Tourism sign initial pact to enhance hospitality standards.: Airbnb on Thursday said it has inked an agreement with the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB) to build host capacity in lesser-explored destinations.Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Airbnb will undertake capacity building activities in the selected pilot locations to enhance local hospitality standards, the company said in a statement. This partnership will focus on onboarding homestays onto the Airbnb platform."This partnership with Airbnb will further expand our efforts to promote homestay culture in our state.
