1.Japan To Accept Earthquake Aid From Only US: Japan plans to accept a relief team from the United States but no aid from other governments, the daily Nikkei reported on Friday, four days after an earthquake killed 91 people and forced the evacuation of thousands in the Noto peninsula.The U.S. and Japan are discussing how and when the U.S. would dispatch troops to the Noto peninsula, the Nikkei report said."We are not accepting any personnel or material aid at the moment given the situation on the ground and the efforts that would be required to receive them," Japan's top spokesperson Yoshimasa Hayashi said on Friday.

4.Transport unions threaten to intensify protests.: The All India Road Transport Workers’ Federation, a platform of various trade unions of drivers and transport workers, has warned that it will intensify the protests if the Centre does not withdraw Sections 104(1) and (2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) immediately. The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), in a statement on January 3, supported the agitations of truck drivers and workers against the BNS provisions on the punishment to drivers involved in accidents.

A free library has opened on the park’s premises. The books, donated by citizens, are stored in a cupboard by a foundation working in the space of senior care. Visitors to the park can browse, read, and even take the books home promising to return them in good faith. The facility was ‘inaugurated’ on Tuesday evening at the park. 9.Longest Sea Bridge, Atal Setu, To Charge Rs 250 Toll for Car Commuters.: Mumbai’s eagerly awaited Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), famously known as Atal Setu, is all set to debut this month, bringing with it a toll of Rs 250 for car commuters.Having said that, the Maharashtra Cabinet has passed the decision wherein the toll proposal has been approved.Initially, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority proposed a toll of Rs 500 per trip based on estimates from the Japan International Cooperation Agency. However, the Urban Development Department (UDD) has revised it to Rs 250 for cars, considering various factors, as reported by the Indian Express.The proposed toll is set for 30 years, from 2024 to 2053.
