1.Joe Biden Working "Very Hard" To Stop Attacks Against Indian Students: US.-US President Joe Biden and his administration are working very hard to thwart and disrupt attacks on Indian and Indian American students, the White House has said.The announcement by John Kirby, Coordinator for Strategic Communications at the National Security Council in the White House comes amid a slew of attacks on Indian and Indian American students in various parts of the country.

2.Heading to Bangkok? 8 things to know about pollution menace in the city.-Bangkok, one of the most popular tourist destinations in Thailand, is grappling with unhealthy pollution levels. 3.Global meet urges India to augment production of pulses to meet nutritional requirements.The Global Pulses Conference, an annual meeting of pulses producers, processors and traders, suggested that India augment production of pulses to meet the nutritional requirements. Union Ministers Arjun Munda and Piyush Goyal said the Centre had taken adequate measures to improve pulses cultivation in the country by increasing the minimum support price (MSP) regularly. The two-day conference is jointly organised by the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd. (NAFED) and the Global Pulse Confederation (GPC).

4.Dilli Chalo’ march: Third meeting between farmers and Union ministers positive, points to possible resolution.:The third round of talks between the protesting farmers in Punjab and three central ministers concluded on a positive note well past midnight. Union Agriculture minister Arjun Munda said the dialogue was “very positive” and they had decided to meet again on Sunday evening. The farmer union leaders called the discussions on MSP, the Swaminathan report, and debt waiver “fruitful”, while Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said he would continue to broker peace for the state as he didn’t want to see the youth facing teargas shells.

5.Former Chief Election Commissioners, activists welcome Supreme Court judgment on electoral bonds.-Activists and former Election Commissioners on Thursday welcomed the Supreme Court order scrapping electoral bonds as historic and said it was a major step towards bringing transparency in the realm of electoral funding.In a landmark judgement, the Supreme Court annulled the electoral bonds scheme on Thursday, saying it violates the Constitutional right to freedom of speech and expression as well as the right to information.

6. bandh today: Avoid these Delhi, Noida routes during farmers' protest | Traffic advisory.-The Gautam Buddh Nagar Police has said restrictions under CrPC Section 144, including a ban on unauthorised public assemblies, would be enforced across the district in view of Bharat Bandh called by farmers' unions on Friday. Delhi might also see traffic snarls due to the farmers' nationwide protest.

7.Jarange-Patil’s health deteriorates, state in a tizzy.-The police and district administration are in a tizzy over the deteriorating health of Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange-Patil, whose condition took a turn for the worse on Thursday evening. Jarange-Patil is on a fast unto death at his village Antarvali Sarati in Nanded district to demand the implementation of the promises made to him by chief minister Eknath Shinde when he called off his march to Mumbai on January 26.

8.Hilton reports remarkable growth in Q4, with a whopping 143 new hotels in 2023.-In its fourth quarter and full-year earnings, Hilton closed another remarkable year of growth with Q4 RevPAR up 41.6% on year, with Greater China RevPAR up +72.8% compared to the same period in 2022. Full year APAC RevPAR grew 58.7% versus 2022. Occupancy remains driven by continued growth in leisure travel, which is being increasingly supported by rising corporate and group demand. Beijing, Tokyo and Kuala Lumpur stood out as Hilton’s best performing markets.

9.Juniper Hotels announces its IPO.- Juniper Hotels Limited, a luxury hotel development and ownership company, and the largest owner, by number of keys of ‘Hyatt’ affiliated hotels in India, has announced its Initial Public Offering (IPO) at the price band of ₹342 to ₹360 per Equity Share.The Issue of the company will open on February 21, 2024, for subscription and close on February 23, 2024. Investors can bid for a minimum of 40 Equity Shares and in multiples of 40 Equity Shares thereafter.

Quad countries call for end in violence in Ukraine, Gaza, and Myanmar .-The Quadrilateral partnership consisting of Australia, India, Japan, and the United States intends to expand the Indo-Pacific Partnership for Maritime Domain Awareness (IPMDA) into the Indian Ocean Region, the Foreign Ministers of the four member countries announced on Monday in Tokyo.
