 1.Mohamed Muizzu recalls 'sovereignty' vow in Maldives parliament, mentions India troops withdrawal.:Maldives president Mohamed Muizzu on Monday told the country's Parliament that the first group of the Indian troops will move out before March 10. Recalling his pre-election promises, he said he would protect the freedom and sovereignty of the people of Maldives. He also said the remaining two contingents of the Indian forces will leave the Island nation by May 10. The withdrawal of Indian troops from the Maldives was one of the main poll promises of Mohamed Muizzu, known for having a tilt towards China, New Delhi's economic and strategic rival.

2.PM Modi to address Parliament, UCC Bill set to be tabled in Uttarakhand Assembly.:

The newly formed Jharkhand government of Champai Soren faces a trust vote on Monday for which 40 ruling coalition legislators, who camped in Hyderabad to prevent “poaching”, reached Ranchi on Sunday night. The vote is expected to be held from 11 am onwards.The MLAs were shifted to Congress-ruled Telangana as the state plunged into a political crisis after Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) chief Hemant Soren resigned as CM and was subsequently arrested on January 31 by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case. A special court has allowed Hemant to participate in the trust vote.

The minister said that a team from the Maldives visited India for two days, adding: “We have an understanding.” During the free-wheeling interaction about his new book, ‘Why Bharat Matters’, Jaishankar spoke about various foreign policy issues, and where India stands on the international stage. The minister addressed key concerns regarding Maldives, China, Pakistan, and the possibility of Donald Trump’s return as a US president.

4.Ladakh sees complete shutdown as thousands protest in freezing cold for ‘statehood’ demand.: Ladakh witnessed a widespread shutdown as thousands participated in marches, advocating for statehood and constitutional protections under the sixth schedule for the Union Territory. The protests were jointly organized by the Leh Apex Body (LAB) and Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA), and saw men and women marching through the main city of Leh despite freezing temperatures. The LAB and KDA, representing the two regions of Ladakh, have been advocating for statehood and Sixth Schedule status since its conversion into a Union Territory. In August 2021, LAB and KDA joined forces to amplify their demands.

5."Government Moving Towards Making Electricity Bill Zero": PM Modi In Guwahati.:Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that the BJP government at the Centre is moving towards making the electricity bill of the households in the country zero.The Prime Minister's remarks came while addressing a gathering after inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of projects worth ₹ 11,599 crore here in Guwahati. In the last 10 years, we ran a campaign to provide electricity to every house. Now we are moving towards making the electricity bill zero.

6.‘New housing scheme to aid people in slums, rented homes, unregulated colonies’.:The government’s proposed housing scheme for the urban poor and middle-class population will benefit people living in slums, rented homes and unregulated colonies, said Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman. In an interview, the finance minister said that the modalities of the proposed scheme are being worked out and the departments concerned will look into all aspects including the eligibility criteria of intended beneficiaries for the scheme.

8.India Budget 2024: Focus on domestic, spiritual tourism, island infrastructure, FDI (First Develop India).: India’s Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, while presenting the Budget to the Parliament today, said India’s economy is going through a profound transformation. She also added that the Government will invest significantly in the tourism sector in the country. “Tourism, including spiritual tourism, has tremendous opportunities. The success of organizing G20 meetings in 60 places presented the diversity of India to global audience. Our economic strength has made the country an attractive destination for business and conference tourism.”

9.IHCL marks seven consecutive quarters of record performance; revenue at Rs 2,004 Cr, up by 15% YoY.: The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) reported its consolidated financials for the third quarter ending December 31st, 2023.Commenting on the Q3 FY24 performance, Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director & CEO, IHCL, said, “IHCL reported an all-time high consolidated Q3 EBITDA margin of 38.5% and PAT margin of 22.6%, marking seven consecutive quarters of record financial performance. This robust performance was enabled by same store hotels clocking RevPAR premium across markets and segments, strong performance of not like for like growth and the scaling of new businesses.”
