1.Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney reacted with anger Wednesday to US President Donald Trump's imposition of import tariffs on cars, branding it a "direct attack" on his country's workers."We will defend our workers. 2.US President Donald Trump announced steep tariffs on auto imports Wednesday, in a move set to fuel tensions with trading partners ahead of further promised levies next week."What we're going to be doing is a 25 percent tariff on all cars that are not made in the United States. If they're made in the United States, it is absolutely no tariff," he said at the White House.

3.As the first in-person trade agreement negotiations between India and the US began in the national capital on Wednesday, the trade officials from the United States have indicated to their Indian counterparts that India will not be treated like China, Mexico, and Canada on the issue of tariffs.

4.Bombay high court has directed Mumbai University (MU) to consider a former student's application to allow him to appear for a grade improvement exam in the Bachelor of Social Work course. A bench of Justices A S Chandurkar and Arif Doctor on Monday said MU must consider the request preferably by April 10 since the semester VI exams are to commence the following day. Nannavare referred to MU's March 18, 2021, circular that enables candidates to appear for a grade improvement exam in five years of the original results being published.

5.American whiskey is in the news these days because post the Trump -Modi meeting, Indian customs duties have been cut on Bourbon. This will give way to better prices and more options of brands available. The customs duties which were 150% have now been reduced to 100%. Since customs duty is always at the start of any cost ladder, the duty reduction will have a domino effect on the following percentages of margins and VAT. This Is good news for all of us who like Bourbon based cocktails and of course Bourbon to sip on itself.
