3.Covid-19 Update, June 9: India's active Covid-19 tally on Monday, June 9 neared the 6500 mark, recording 358 new cases, with majority of them reported in Gujarat and Karnataka.The emerging XFG variant of the COVID-19 virus has been detected in 163 samples so far, with Maharashtra accounting for the highest number of cases.

4.Beginning June 8, 2025, Indian nationals can enter the Philippines without a visa for tourism purposes, as announced by the Philippine government. This initiative aims to boost tourism from India, which saw a 12% increase in arrivals in 2024, totalling nearly 80,000 visitors. Despite this growth, Indian tourists still represent a small fraction of the over five million travellers to Southeast Asia last year.-

5.Latest data from the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has revealed that international visitor spend in India reached a record INR 3.1TN in 2024, 9% above the previous peak of 2019. The sector’s economic contribution to the country is set to reach over INR 22TN in 2025.
