2.Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi will call on PM Narendra Modi on Tuesday, ahead of the latter's first visit to China in seven years. Modi is scheduled to travel to China from Aug 31-Sept 1 for the SCO summit in Tianjin where he is expected to hold bilateral meetings with President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

3.The new GST regime previewed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Independence Day address would be consumer-centric, with particular emphasis on the poor, the MSMEs, the middle class and the far mers, senior government sources said on Sunday (August 17, 2025). The new two-tier Goods and Services Tax (GST) structure of 18% and 5% rates will have the twin objective of making rates and processes simpler and more rational, as it was originally intended to be, the sources said.

5.As per the government reports, the Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) in the hotel and restaurant sector has increased by 216 percent between 2023 and 2024The government attributes this rise in FDI into the sector as an outcome of successfully listing of hospitality companies in the last couple of years.
