2.An earthquake measuring 7.5 on the Richter scale has hit Mindanao in Philippines. The authorities have warned of 'destructive tsunami' with ‘life-threatening’ wave heights and people have been asked to evacuate immediately to safer places. The quake was at a depth of 62 km (38.53 miles), the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) said.

3.Israel’s Cabinet early on Friday approved President Donald Trumps plan for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the release of all remaining hostages held by Hamas, news agency Associated Press (AP) reported.A brief statement from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said the Cabinet approved the “outline” of a deal to free the hostages but did not mention other, more contentious parts of the plan. An Israeli official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the ceasefire is to begin immediately following government approval, and Israeli forces have 24 hours to pull back to agreed positions.

4.In a major leap for global education, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Thursday announced that nine British universities are establishing campuses in India.
