 1.Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with his Israeli counterpart, Benjamin Netanyahu, as tensions escalated sharply in the Middle East following the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and retaliatory Iranian strikes across the region.In a post on X early on Monday, PM Modi said, "Had a telephone call with PM Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss the current regional situation. Conveyed India’s concerns over recent developments and emphasised the safety of civilians as a priority. India reiterates the need for an early cessation of hostilities."

2.Residents of Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra who are stranded in the Middle East owing to the closure of airspace amid the rising Iran–Israel conflict, are seeking help for evacuation on social media. Meanwhile, the UAE has requested local hotels to allow stranded travellers to extend their stay, offering to pay their expenses.

3.More explosions have been heard across the Gulf states, and at least three people have been killed in the United Arab Emirates as Iran carries out attacks in retaliation for strikes by the United States and Israel that killed its supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and other top officials.The explosions were heard for a second day on Sunday in Dubai, the UAE; Bahrain’s capital, Manama; and Qatar’s capital, Doha, raising fears of a wider conflict in a region long seen as a haven of peace and security.

4.There are about 9,000-10,000 Indian nationals, including students, workers, pilgrims, tourists, business persons, and seafarers across 16 provinces in Iran, said External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on February 6 in response to a starred question asked by Trinamool Congress MP Sougata Ray about whether the Government of India had assessed the impact of the political unrest in Iran on Indians residing there, their possible repatriation, and their current numbers.
